Upgrade to Joomla REQUIRED!

Due to some needed security concerns, Joomla has a patch available that will upgrade your Joomla to 1.0.10. This upgrade is NECESSARY! The URL below will get you to the right spot:

http://developer.joomla.org/sf/frs/do/viewRelease/projects.joomla/frs.joomla_1_0.1_0_10

Since this is an upgrade to the files, the directions say to simply un-zip or un-tar.gz in your Joomla directory replacing files. This does NOT affect your databases. Once you've done that two things remain to complete the upgrade:

1. remove the installation directory and configuration.php-dist file
2. check permissions on all the newly overwritten files and directories
and reset to Web user
(on a Linux box whose web server runs under "apache" user, the command is:
chown apache:apache -R [ENTER]
while you are root and in the joomla directory.

Logging into your Joomla and going to the Admin side, you should see the version number (1.0.10) at the very bottom of the screen. Then you know for sure your up-to-date! :)

New Modules discovered:

NewsFlash Scroller
Top Authors
Font size control for user (A+, A-, and a reset button)
Slideshow Module - revolving images in a little panel

With the exception of the Slidehow, all have been implemented on SOS Joomla.

Have fixed minor problems in several of the 247 broad templates - green, blue, red, brown, orange, and black

All of the above may be downloaded via the SOS Joomla

Uhh, you must be a registered user to download from the Remository.

BTW, if you run Mambo, it has gone under 2 security patches to the former highest version: 4.5.3h and NEEDS to be upgraded/fixed/patched as well.
See the Mambo site: http://www.mamboserver.com/ for info and links to files.

Yours, in the "spirit of sharing", Ken
