Gee, I Wish I had a Copier
Written by Ellen Zimmerman
Situation 1: You have a last minute worksheet and you don't have time to go to the copy room to make copies.Situation 2: You found something really cool in a book you want your students to see.
Situation 3: You want to save a project of a students but it's too large to stuff in the closet.
Situation 4: You're on vacation or just see something that you want to incorporate into the classroom.
It can go on and on. If you have a document camera, you may be able to solve some of these problems already. Document cameras can be used to project text and 3D images and some can even take photos for you. But, if you don't, once again the cell phone can come in very useful! Use your cell phone to take photos of textbook pages, projects or anything then just send yourself an e-mail. You just enter your e-mail address with the "@domain" included and it will show up as an attachment. The photo can be turned, if needed, using Paint for Windows or Paintbrush for Mac. (Both free!)
Examples of things I have used my cell phone for are: sending work to ISS, posting textbook pages for students who are absent, showing sample projects, and my favorite, sending a copy of an annoying error message from my computer screen to the technology person because it never messed up when they were in there! (I even used a cell phone video to catch the dashboard of my car going crazy so the car dealer would believe me!)
